Etymology[edit]
First attested in 1832. sürgő + -s (adjective-forming suffix), from sürög (“to bustle, be on the go”) + -ő (present participle suffix). Created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries, as a replacement for sürgetős.[1]
