Usage notes
[edit]sisään and sisälle are mostly synonymous. When talking about being inside a container, building, etc., the two are effectively interchangeable. However, when talking about being enveloped or encircled by something, or e.g. for holes or tunnels dug in something, the former is generally used. On the other hand, the latter is generally used when talking about limits or boundaries, or in similar figurative uses.
