  1. (mineralogy) A rare dark brown mineral, (La,Ca,Na)(Al,Fe,Mn)(Si,P)(O,OH,F)4, found in Greenland, occurring in rhombohedral crystals or massive formations.

      It is a remarkable fact that the most fresh steenstrupine in lujavrites and veins is found in rocks carrying albite (and ussingite).
