Cognate with Old English swā (English so), Old Frisian sa, Old Saxon , Dutch zo, Old High German (German so), Swedish , Danish , Gothic 𐍃𐍅𐌰 (swa), Latin si (from an earlier form suad), Oscan 𐌔𐌅𐌀𐌝 (svaí), Umbrian sve, Greek ὡς (hōs) (earlier *ϝως).
