[edit]From Ottoman Turkish تورهمك (türemek, “to start into existence, increase and multiply”), from Old Anatolian Turkish دورومك (dörümäk, dürümäk), دوریمك (döremäk, dörimäk, “to be born, come into existence”), from Proto-Turkic *törü- (“to be born, originate”),[1] ultimately from Proto-Turkic *töŕ (“foundation, root; origin, ancestors”)[2][3] and related to Yakut төрүт (törüt, “origin”).
Cognate with Old Turkic 𐱅𐰇𐰼𐰇𐰢 (törümiş, “have been created”), Old Uyghur [script needed] (törü-, “to come into existence, to appear”), Karakhanid [script needed] (törǖmēk, “to come into existence, to be created”), Azerbaijani törəmək (“to come into being, to be generated”), Khakas тӧрирге (törirge, “to be born”), Kyrgyz төрөө (töröö), Southern Altai тӧрӧӧр (töröör, “to give birth to”), Tuvan төрүүр (törüür, “to give birth to, be born”), Yakut төрөө (töröö, “to give birth to”), Gagauz türümää.
