Cognate with Thai ต่ำ (dtàm), Lao ຕ່ຳ (tam), Shan တႅမ်ႇ (tèm), Tai Dam ꪔꪾ꪿, Ahom 𑜄𑜪 (taṃ) or 𑜄𑜉𑜫 (tam), Bouyei dams, Zhuang daemq.
