[edit]Inherited from Medieval Tashelhit تَكُتْ (tagut, “clouds”), from Proto-Berber.
Cognate with Central Atlas Tamazight ⵜⴰⴳⵯⵓⵜⵜ (tagʷutt, “fog”), Tarifit tayyut (“fog, mist”), and Senhaja de Srair ṯaggʷuṯ, ṯawweṯ (“fog”), Tachawit ayu (“fog”), Kabyle agu (“fog”), Chenoua hawt (“fog”), and Nefusa تاڭوت (tagut, “fog, mist”).
