New Latin from tendin-, stem of Medieval Latin tendo, from Late Latin tenon, from Ancient Greek τένων (ténōn, tendon, sinew). By surface analysis, tendon +‎ -itis and tendo- +‎ -itis but not actually formed in this way; similarly with tendinopathy § Etymology.
