From tetra- + amelia, tetra- from combining form of Ancient Greek τέτταρες (téttares) and τέσσαρες (téssares, “four”), and amelia from a- and Ancient Greek μέλος (mélos, “limb”) and -ia.

- A particular congenital disorder, whose main symptom is the lack of legs, arms, and hands.
