English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From tom +‎ girl. The “girlish boy” sense was formed as an antonym of tomboy; the “boyish girl” sense is an alteration of tomboy to reinforce that the referent is a girl.

Noun[edit]

    Synonym: janegirl
    Coordinate term: femboy
