- (colloquial) Something excellent or first-rate.
- (dated, especially US) A person regarded as the best in an activity or occupation.
- 1912, Victor Appleton, Tom Swift in Captivity, page 140:
- "I don't know, but he must be a top-notcher. I wonder what will happen to us?"
- (currently, Philippines) Someone who finishes, or is listed by name, first.
