[edit]From Proto-Vietic *ɟaːŋ ~ *tʃɨəŋ < Proto-Vietic *tʃ-ʔaːŋ, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *cʔaaŋ ~ *cʔaiŋ. Cognate with Mang caːŋ⁴, Khmer ឆ្អឹង (chʼəng), Semai je'aak, Khasi sh'ing and Santali ᱡᱟᱝ (jaṅ).
