Metathesis of Andalusian Arabic *سَفُنَّارْيَة, from Arabic إِسْفَنَارِيَّة (ʔisfanāriyya) (compare Libyan Arabic: سفنّاريّة (sfənnāriyya)), from Ancient Greek σταφυλίνη ἀγρία (staphulínē agría). Cognate to Catalan safanòria.
