Etymology[edit]

ραύγω (raúgō), ράβγω (rábgō) is the mediaeval form. From the ancient ῥάπτω (rháptō) from the perfective stem ραψ- in the pattern of -ψ- > -β- as in κλέπτω, κλεψ- (kléptō, kleps-) > κλέβω (klévo, steal).[1]
