Borrowed from Spanish Binondo via Hokkien, with the old archaic spelling in Spanish Binondoc, as attested in the Velarde map, originally from Tagalog binundok (“formed into a mound or embankment”), from bundok (“mountain”) + -in- (“verb infix”).
