Occitan
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Old Occitan oc, from Latin hoc (“that”) (compare Old French o, affirmative particle, French oui ‘yes’).[1] The semantic shift is calqued on Gaulish [Term?]: compare Old Irish tó (“yes”), Welsh do (“indeed”), from Proto-Indo-European *tod (“that”) (compare English that) (compare Catalan hoc).[2]
