From Byzantine Greek (ὀ)γκαρίζω ((o)nkarízō) from Hellenistic Koine Greek ὀγκαρίζω (onkarízō), probably a reborrowing from Latin oncare from Ancient Greek ὀγκάομαι (onkáomai) / ὀγκῶμαι (onkômai, bray).[1]
