Etymology

From Mediaeval Byzantine Greek στρίβω, from the ancient στρέφω (twist) from the perfective stem στριψ- in the pattern of -ψ- > -β- as in κλέπτω (klépto), κλεψ- > κλέβω (klévo, steal).[1]
