гуя
Bulgarian
Etymology 1
From Proto-Slavic *guja (“snake”), possibly continuing Proto-Indo-European *gew- (“to twist, to flex”) (cf. Ancient Greek γύης (gúēs, “earth”), γῠ́ᾰλον (gúalon, “hollow structure”)). Cognate with Serbo-Croatian гу́ја.
Borrowing from a Paleo-Balkan language is not excludable, either.
