Russian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

ко́нчить (kónčitʹ) +‎ -еный (-enyj)

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [ˈkonʲt͡ɕɪnɨj]
  • (file)

Adjective[edit]

ко́нченый (kónčenyj)

  1. (colloquial) completely resolved, finished, final, decisive, decided, ultimate
  2. (colloquial, figuratively) finished, done, done for, gone, hopeless, washed-up, a lost cause (no longer capable, exhausted or having lost abilities) (often translated to other negative adjectives such as crazy, miserable, stinking, batshit, wicked, base, douchey)

Usage notes[edit]

  • Short forms *ко́нчен, *ко́нчено, *ко́нчена, *ко́нчены theoretically exist but are usually avoided due to their similarity to the short forms of the past passive participle of ко́нчить (kónčitʹ).
