Usage notes[edit]
- In some older expressions or collocations, ме́жду (méždu) or меж (mež) is used with a genitive case, rather than the regular instrumental case, e.g. ме́жду двух огне́й (méždu dvux ognéj), ме́жду строк (méždu strok, “between the lines”), ме́жду глаз (méždu glaz, “between the eyes”).
- In various cases both genitive and instrumental are used, e.g. ме́жду ног (méždu nog, “between the legs”) or ме́жду нога́ми (méždu nogámi, “between the legs”), ме́жду о́кон (méždu ókon, “between the windows”) or ме́жду о́кнами (méždu óknami, “between the windows”)
