Russian

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ˈmʲesnɨj pɐˈdʲeʂ]

Noun

ме́стный паде́ж (méstnyj padéžm inan (genitive ме́стного падежа́, nominative plural ме́стные падежи́, genitive plural ме́стных падеже́й)

  1. locative case

Usage notes

  • In the Russian grammar, the locative case is often called предло́жный паде́ж (predlóžnyj padéž) (prepositional case), due to the fact that the once separate locative, vocative, and prepositional cases have for the most part merged in Modern Russian. However, there are still many words that show a distinction in the prepositional and locative forms...e.g., бе́рег (béreg), дверь (dverʹ) and год (god).
