[edit]From Middle Ukrainian сѣсти (sisty), from Old East Slavic сѣсти (sěsti), from Proto-Slavic *sěsti, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *sḗˀstei, from Proto-Indo-European *sed-.

- to land upon something (of insects, birds)

- to set (of a heavenly body disappearing below the horizon)
- Со́нце вже сі́ло ― Sónce vže sílo ― The sun has already set.
- (figurative) to enter or start a fixed regime, commitment, or state (especially a restrictive one).
