1. to sit down
2. (colloquial) to take, board (to get on a form of transport, such as a subway)
3. to land upon something (of insects, birds)

   кома́хи сі́ли на траву́. ― komáxy síly na travú. ― The insects landed on the grass.

4. to set (of a heavenly body disappearing below the horizon)

   Со́нце вже сі́ло ― Sónce vže sílo ― The sun has already set.

5. (figurative) to enter or start a fixed regime, commitment, or state (especially a restrictive one).

   Чому́ б тобі́ не сі́сти на діє́ту? ― Čomú b tobí ne sísty na dijétu? ― Why don't you go on a diet?
