[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic цьркꙑ (cĭrky), from Proto-Slavic *cьrky, from Proto-West Germanic *kirikā, from Ancient Greek κυριακόν (kuriakón). Doublet of ки́рха (kírxa) and ки́рка (kírka), see also English church and other Germanic cognates.
