Common Semitic; see also Arabic قَامَ (qāma), Ge'ez ቆመ (ḳomä), Qatabanian [script needed] (*sqmt), [script needed] (*suqāmat, planted, literally made to stand), feminine passive causative adjective of [script needed] (*qāma, to stand). Possibly also related to שקמה (sycamore tree).[1]
