[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀭𑁄𑀮 (rōla), from Sanskrit रव (ráva, “roar; cry”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₃rewH- (“to shout, yell; a rustling sound”). Cognate with Pahari-Potwari رولا (rolā), Hindi रौल (raul) among others.
