Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Punjabi [Term?], from Prakrit 𑀭𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀇 (rakkhaï, “to guard, protect”), from Sanskrit रक्षति (rákṣati). Cognate with Urdu رکھنا (rakhnā) / Hindi रखना (rakhnā).
