From کتک (kotak, beating; cf. Gilaki /kut-/ 'beat/pound'; Mazandarani 'kεt-' 'pulsate/pound (of blood)'; Balochi /kud-/ ‘scratch, wound, injure’; from PIE *kéwdʰh₁-) +‎ زدن (zadan, to strike).
