Etymology 1[edit]

From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kwrt /kurd/), of uncertain origin, assumed from Proto-Indo-European *kerdʰ- (herd).

[ Lurs are ] a group of nomads who live in the mountains between Isfahan and Khuzestan and these territories are known to be theirs and they are called the Lur people and they are also called “Luristan” and “Lur”.
