From a Proto-Indo-European *aukw-(cooking pot), *Hukʷ-, *ukwnos (compare Old Armenian ակութ(akutʿ), Albanian anë, Latin aulla, olla, Ancient Greek ἰπνός(ipnós), Old Norse and Old English ofn (English oven).
