Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi उभ (ubha), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀩𑁆𑀪 (ubbha), from Sanskrit ऊर्ध्व (ūrdhva). Cognate to Konkani उभो (ubho), Gujarati ઊભું (ūbhũ), Old Gujarati ऊभउं (ūbhaüṃ), Marwari ऊभौ (ūbhau).
