[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀖𑀺𑀤 (ghida), from Sanskrit घृत (ghṛtá), from Proto-Indo-European *gʰr̥tós (“smeared”). Cognate with Punjabi ਘਿਉ (ghiu) and English Christ. Doublet of घृत (ghŕt).
