Borrowed from Classical Persian صاحب (sāhib), from Arabic صَاحِب (ṣāḥib). Compare Gujarati સાહેબ (sāheb), Hindi साहिब (sāhib), Punjabi ਸਾਹਬ (sāhab) / صاحب (ṣāḥb).
