From Pali nimmita (“to create; to build; etc”); ultimately from Sanskrit निर्मित (nirmita, “created; built; etc”), from which Thai นิรมิต (ní-rá-mít) is derived. Cognate with Khmer និម្មិត (nɨmmɨt).
