Etymology[edit]

From ยา (yaa, drug) +‎ บ้า (bâa, crazy; mad; insane; wild). First used in 1996. Coined by the then minister of public health Sanoh Thienthong. Formerly known as ยาม้า (yaa-máa) and ยาขยัน.
