[edit]From *ბორბ-უ (*borb-u), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *barb-.[1][2] Cognate with Mingrelian ბურბუ (burbu, “bat”) and obsolete Georgian ბრბუნვა (brbunva, “blind groping”).[3]
