Suffix
읍시다 • (-eupsida)
- Hortative suffix for sentence-final verbs in the 하오체 (haoche, “formal”) speech level.
Usage notes
—ᆸ시다 (-psida) is combined with the sequential form of a verb. If the stem ends in ㄹ (l, “l”), the ㄹ (l, “l”) falls out. For example,
- 걷다 (걸으니/걸으면) (geotda (georeuni/georeumyeon), “to walk”) → 걸읍시다 (georeupsida, “Let's walk!”)
- 살다 (사니/살면) (salda (sani/salmyeon), “to live”) → 삽시다 (sapsida, “Let's live (in)!”)
