Etymology[edit]

gara is the sound of objects rubbing against each other while kuta is thought to be a contraction of ‎(akuta, trash) or a contraction of 朽ち ‎(kuchi, rotten). The kanji 瓦落多 and 我楽多 are ateji.[1]
