收集 (kyūjitai) 蒐集聚集

From Middle Chinese 收集 (MC syuw dzip, “to collect, to gather”, literally “collect, harvest + collect, gather”). First appears in roughly 760 CE with the spelling 聚集.^[1]

The 収集 spelling appears to be more common in modern usage.
