Etymology[edit]

Transliteration of German Deutsch ‎(Germany)/deutsch ‎(of Germany). The choice of characters was inspired by ("morality") and 意志 ("a person's intent"). The tendency to use commendatory characters in country names was also seen in "美國美国" ("America", lit. pretty country), "英國英国" ("England", lit. flower/outstanding country) and "法國法国" ("France", lit. the law country).
