simp. (摄氏) | 摄 | 氏 |
Etymology[edit]
Abbreviation of 攝爾修斯/摄尔修斯 (from Swedish Celsius) + 氏 (shì, “family”).
Pronunciation[edit]
Adjective[edit]
攝氏
Usage notes[edit]
攝氏 may be placed before or after the number of degrees in Chinese. Placing it before the number of degrees (as in the example above) gives the sentence a literary and poetic feel; however, this usage is sometimes frowned upon by language authorities, for example in the Modern Standard Chinese Dictionary (現代漢語規範詞典).
