⟨mutu tuki2⟩ → */mut̚tuki/ → ⟨mutuki2⟩ → /mutukʷɨ/ → /mut͡suki/
From Old Japanese.
Appears to be derived from root 睦 (mutsu-, “affectionate, harmonious”) + 月 (tsuki, “month”).
