Etymology
In current form, Phono-semantic compound (形聲/形声) : semantic 魚 (“fish”) + phonetic 曼 (OC *moːn, *mons) – a kind of fish. Note that 曼 has meaning of “long”, hence connotations of “a long fish, an eel”.
