Etymology 1

First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean ᄇᆞᄅᆞᆷ (Yale: polom). Possibly cognate with Old Chinese (OC *plum, *plums, “wind”). [1]
