From Early Modern Korean 열ᄆᆡ (yelmoy), 열매 (yelmay).

Displaced Middle Korean 여름〮 (yèlúm, “fruit”), a nominalization of 열〯다〮 (yěltá, “to ripen”), due to normal sound changes transforming 녀름〮 (nyèlúm, “summer”) into the homophone 여름 (yelum, “summer”).
