Cognate with Bulgar باك (bêk, “ruler”), Old Uyghur 𐽼𐽷 (pk), 𐽼𐽰𐽷 (pʾk, “lord, chief”), Karakhanid باكْ (bēg, “chief, a woman's husband”), Azerbaijani bəy (“mister, gentleman; lord”), Turkish bey (“mister, gentleman; lord”).
