Etymology 1

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish [Term?], from Arabic ـِيَّة (-iyya). Doublet of -iyet.

   ‎mal (“item, property”) + ‎-iye → ‎maliye (“municipality of economy, economics”)

   ‎harp (“war”) + ‎-iye → ‎harbiye (“military dicipline”)
