Etymology
From Old Hungarian agar [1395] and earlier Agar [1193]. Borrowed from a West Slavic language; compare Czech ohař, Polish ogar and Slovak ohar, from Proto-Slavic *ogarь. Or less likely directly borrowed from a Turkic language.
