Inherited from Malay daulat, ultimately from Arabic دَوْلَة (dawla, state). Cognate of Classical Persian دولت (daulat), Hindi दौलत (daulat, wealth, riches), Javanese ꦢꦲꦸꦭꦠ꧀ (daulat, blessing), and Tagalog daulat (trouble; misunderstanding).
