From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Hebrew אֱלֹהִים/אֱלוֹהִים (ʾélôhím, “(a) god(s)”), plural of אֱלוֹהַּ (ʾélôah, “god”), often taken to be an expanded form of אֵל (ʾēl, “god”) (whence El).
